In Memoriam: My Competitive Integrity
« on: August 19, 2008, 06:58:25 pm »
To scalp or not to scalp, that is the question.  Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous n00bs, or to take arms against a sea of h4x and by opposing end them? To play, to game - no more - and by game to say we end the heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks that pr0s are heir to, 'tis a consummation devoutly to be wish'd. To play, to game; to game - perchance to pwn - ay, there's the rub.

Wait, what exactly are you trying to say here, douglas?

To get scores like these on Sonic Advance 2, you have to spam R-tricks in certain spots of the stages. This ruins the fun when competing in this category (thank you, SBW <_<). Doug, who was supposed to be an upright player, refused to use this dirty strategy for years an even set himselft and admirable goal when Judgy become champion of this game: to get back his championship without using it (yes, our young player uses it). After failing hard, he has recently turned against his principles and started using it, getting the championship easily. >:(

I think that's generous; the only real principle was it wasn't my idea of fun and I couldn't be arsed.  Anyway, I didn't "fail hard" - I took it back sans spamming a number of times before succumbing to Judgy's onslaught, as I fully expect to happen again in the fullness of time.  I also found there's a touch more to it than just spamming, which effective for some characters and levels but not others (see eg my Cream stats), and you also have to choose the right method of spamming (I'm looking at you RPG you noob).

Minus: I've got an engineering degree, it doesn't preclude reading (although an English teacher for a grandmother can't hurt >_>)

Wow, so many parallels to me and Sonic Heroes. I outright refused to use the TBG because I thought it was dirty and not a fun way to play the game. It took forever for the dang thing to get banned. I finally just had enough of it and went on an uber (we're talking Darth Vader Force Rage level) TBG rampage in 2006, thus showing just how skill less and game breaking it really was. Needless to say it shocked the TSC community to the point where action was taken immediately, meaning I got what I wanted, although it meant having to use the dark side to get it.
Ever know what its like to get pwned by a book? Sonic certainly does.

Well that makes more sense.  See, I've read Shakespeare (Midsummer Night's Dream actually made me laugh multiple times) but I just couldn't tell what you were talking about.  Heck, noting what this community is usually like, I thought you were saying you were a cheater and were coming clean.  So I dunno.
